HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: The circus continues.
Yesterday, Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy revealed to reporters that superstar Dwight Howard tried to have management fire him.
Today, reports are circulating that the Magic threatened to send Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline -if he didn’t opt-in or sign an extension.
As we know, Howard, after much flip-flopping, decided to play out the final year of his max’ contract with the Magic.
Bottom line: things are a mess.
Howard opting-in was supposed to bring some closure to a complex situation; however, the rumors, back-stabbing, and soap opera has continued.
At some point, the Magic must decide if Howard is worth all the hassle. Perhaps, cutting ties and getting the best possible trade package back would be best for player and team.
