Ray Allen Betrays Boston and Signs With Miami
Ray Allen betrays the Boston Celtics and signs with the Miami Heat.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: I can’t wait for his return to the Boston Garden. That will be louder than LeBron going back to Cleveland.
Ray Allen went from hero to villain with four simple words “I’m going to Miami.” That’s right the Boston sharp shooter and founding member of the original Big Three in Bean Town is now heading to their arch rival the Miami Heat.
Allen apparently felt like he had a better chance at winning another ring with LeBron and Wade than with Pierce, Garnett, and Rondo. This will piss off a lot of Celtic fans and seriously hinder Boston’s chances of getting out of the Eastern Conference next year.
This also makes Miami’s chances of repeating as champions even greater. Allen’s long distance shooting is exactly what the Miami offense needs to stretch the floor. His defense won’t be much help, but his ability to create space for LeBron and Wade to operate in the paint, while still demanding the defense keep someone home on Allen is valuable. This possibly the most significant free agency signing of the off-season and will impact next years champion more than Steve Nash, Deron Williams, or Dwight Howard.
