Mark Cuban Is Pissed At Jason Kidd
After ditching Dallas for the Knicks this offseason, Mark Cuban is pissed off at Jason Kidd and said he would "never" retire J-Kidd’s number.
HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: I wouldn’t want to piss Mark Cuban off because he has enough money to casually pay someone to kill you.
In an interview with ESPN radio, Cuban was very honest about how Kidd leaving for NY made him feel. "I was more than upset," said Cuban. "I thought he was coming (back). I was pissed." "I like J-Kidd," Cuban added. "He’s a good guy. But I just thought that was wrong. You can’t put a guy’s number in the rafters when he decides he doesn’t want to be there."
Even though it seems like Jason Kidd has been playing in the NBA for about 100 years and isn’t that much of an impact player, there was a time where Jason Kidd was easily the best point guard in the league as a member of "Triple J Ranch, which featured Kidd, Jimmy Jackson, and Jamal Mashburn. In 1994-95 he burst onto the scene and won the Rookie of the Year award. Kidd immediately drew comparisons to Magic Johnson and could control games without scoring points. He led the Nets to two Finals appearances and "finally" won a title with the Mavericks two years ago.
Kidd played in Dallas for two different stints- from 1994 to 1997 and again from 2007 to 2012. What’s weird is that while Kidd had productive seasons in Dallas, most of his success came in New Jersey as a Net and in Phoenix as a Sun. Is Kidd even synonymous enough with the Mavs to warrant having the team retire his number? I don’t think so. Regardless of that though, Kidd should definitely be a hall of famer someday.
