Zach Randolph and Kendrick Perkins Both Get Ejected Then Fight In Locker Room
Zach Randoph and Kendrick Perkins get ejected, but then take the fight into the locker room.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: This locker room brewhaha reportedly invovled flying chairs.
Zach Randolph and Kendrick Perkins dont’ like each other. This is well established. Their beef first got heated in the 2011 Western Conference Semifinals when the Grizzlies and Thunder went through a grueling 7 game series. Perkins was matched up on Randolph almost the entire series which lead to some very physical play. Most would say Randolph had an amazing series and was clearly offensively superior, but Perkins was in his face on every exchange and helped bring the Thunder to an eventual victory. Randolph later declared how Perkins was “too slow” to defend him and proceeded to taunt Perkins on and off the court.
The two teams went head-to-head again last night and in the waning moments of the game things erupted gain. This time it was Zach Randolph audibly declaring he would “beat his ass” referring to Perkins (see video below). The refs quickly rushed in and both players were ejected, although what exactly Perkins did to get ejected is made clear in the video. His mean glare might have been enough.
Most players would accept this ejection and go back to the locker room. Not these two heavy weights. Apparently, back at the locker room another brewhaha broke loose and although Oklahoma City police will not make any official statements, it reportedly involved flying chairs. Best as we’ve heard, no one was injured and no one’s talking, but we’re hoping for a hidden video leak sometime today. Fingers crossed. Oh, and btw Memphis beat the Thunder 107-97 to move to 6-1 on the year. I have a hunch we haven’t seen the end of this epic showdown.
