Bynum Further Injures Knee Bowling
Andrew Bynum further injures his knee while bowling.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Bynum needs to get his priorities straight, rehab his knee, focus on the NBA, and get back to playing ball.
Andrew Bynum continues to sit on the bench rehabbing his knee, while the 76ers struggle. Unfortunately, when Bynum is not sitting around doing nothing to help the 76ers win during the game, he’s not sitting around at home letting his knee heal after the game. Instead, Bynum’s out bowling away the evening, an activity prohibited under his current contract. ESPN reported yesterday that Bynum suffered additional damage to his knee earlier this month while bowling. How much damage or what this means to the timeline of his rehab is not yet known.
“I had a little bit of a setback, and we’re just working through some issues with the right knee,” Bynum said before the 76ers took on the Utah Jazz. “I kind of have a mirror thing going on with my left knee. I don’t know what’s going on, but the doctors are saying pretty much that it’s a weakened cartilage state.”
This latest setback is just another indicator that Bynum might not pan out to be the franchise player Philadelphia was banking on. His maturity and mental toughness have always been questioned, while his physical talents were not. It appears the Lakers may have dealt away this big man at the perfect time before his weak knees and bowling mishaps made him irrelevant.
