Clippers Win Franchise Record 13th Straight.

Clippers staying focused as they tear apart the West.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Could the Clippers really be this good? Are they built for the playoffs?

Clippers aren’t just the dominant team in Los Angeles, they’re showing the West they are one of the teams to beat this year if you plan on making a run at the ring. The Clips have stormed through 13 straight wins and have won those games by an average of 13 points, winning four of the games by 20 or more points.

“We’re just taking care of business right now,” Griffin said. “To be honest, we’re not really concerned with ‘You haven’t won here since then’ or ‘You haven’t won this many games in a row.’

Their latest victim was the Phoenix Suns who they tore apart last night 103 to 77. The game was close through two quarters, but in the third the Clips went bonkers scoring 33 points compared to only 17 by the Suns. Blake Griffin lead the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Chris Paul added 17 points and 13 assists and the Clips stars and depth dominated the undermannded Suns throughout the second half.

This puts the Clippers at 21-6 on the year and second only to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West who sit at 21-5. It should be pointed out that they haven’t beaten a ton of quality teams on their 13 game winning streak. They barely defeated the Chicago Bulls, but almost all their wins outside of that have been against sub par competition. The real test for the Clippers come when they will go up against squads like the Thunder, Spurs, and Grizzlies. These are seen, along with the Clippers, as the four strongest teams in the West this year.

Although it’s great to see the Clippers performing so well this year, their current streak can be a bit misleading. The reality is the playoffs are all that matter and against the better teams in the West the Clippers have heald their own, but certainly not dominated. There is a lot of basketball still to be played this year and Clippers Nation is hoping they’ve got what it takes to make a serious run. Unortunately, that still remains to be seen.
