Confirmed: Stoudemire Will Come Off Bench For Knicks

Knicks send Amare Stoudemire to a 6-man role.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Humility is always a good quality for growth. Maybe this is what New York needs to get better?

Confirmed: Stoudemire Will Come Off Bench For Knicks

The role of Amare Stoudemire has been up in the air for months. The Knicks ability to win without Stoudemire has made his return even more awkward. Some have speculated the Knicks would try to deal the power forward, but his current franchise contract and poor production makes him a bad value bet for anyone in the NBA.

At the same time the Knicks inability to win with both Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony on the floor make New York’s lineup highly debatable. A few weeks ago rumors started circulating that Stoudemire might come off the bench when he returned. Today those rumors are confirmed and the Knicks have stated that they are prepared to place their heralded power forward in a 6-man slot.

Stoudemire for his part has remained open to any situation. He has proven humble and able to adapt to the situation.

“It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes to win. I’m totally open to it,” Stoudemire said earlier this month. “I’ve been here for three years now. You guys should know how much of a team player I am. I’ve played with a team in Phoenix that … was a team-oriented game, and the same applies here in New York.

If Stoudemire is able to regain some of his old Phoenix Sun swagger in the second unit the Knicks may just have what it takes to put on a serious charge to the Eastern Conference. They remain a solid team this season, but still unable to take out the elite teams. Perhaps this shakeup to their lineup will be exactly what they need.
