Kobe Debuts “Count On Kobe” Campaign, Says Who He Can Beat One On One (Video)

Kobe wants to remind you that you can “Count On Kobe”, like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: He also wants you to know he can beat your favorite player one on one.

On the same day as his Lakers are set to play the Heat in La La land, Nike released this ad for the new Kobe 8 SYSTEM:

In a recent interview with ESPN, Kobe also had some great answers in terms of who he could beat one on one.

Could Kobe beat MJ? “I’m not sure, but he would win some and I would win some in a seven-game series. It would probably come down to the last few shots.”

How about King James? “LeBron is a terrific all-around, five-on-five basketball player who’s an all-time great. But I’d get him.”

The only person Kobe thinks would give him some trouble is apparently Durantula. Kevin Durant is the guy that would give me the most trouble. With his length and ability to use the dribble, he’d be tough.”

One person he has no doubt about who he could own one on one is T-Mac. Sure, he isn’t the same now, but Kobe apparently worked him in his prime. “I played T-Mac. I cooked him. Roasted him. Wasn’t even close. Ask him, he’ll tell you. When I was about 20, we were in Germany doing some promotional stuff for that other sneaker company and we played basketball every day. We were in the gym all the time. We played three games of one-on-one to 11. I won all three games. One game I won 11-2. After the third game he said he had back spasms and couldn’t play anymore.”

How great would it be to see Kobe challenge LeBron one on one, best of three, on pay per view or something? I’d shell out $69.99 for that. It would be similar to when Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaq were going to do it. It’s a shame it never happened.

Best two out of three, who wins; Kobe or LeBron?
