Refs Screw Mavs Two Games In A Row.

The refs have blown two of the easiest most blatant calls of the year against the Mavs to cost them back-to-back games. Is this coincidence?

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: If these refs don’t hate the Mavs maybe they’re betting against them. Either way, these refs suck.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle was fined for his comments critical of the referees following the Mavs loss to the Warriors. This marks the second game in a row that the Mavs have lost following horrible calls by the refs in the last 10 seconds of the game. Just two days ago, the Mavs lost to the Raptors on a horrendous charge foul call on OJ Mayo that the NBA later admitted should have been a blocking foul. That foul largely cost the Mavs the game.

Last night it was the same story in a different venue with the Mavs’ Brandan Wright was “blocked” by Andrew Bogut clearly smashing Wright’s arm. If this isn’t a foul, there has never been a foul in the history of the league. Clearly this miscall with 3 seconds left on the clock in a 1-point game cost the Mavs the ball game. It was one of the worst no-calls you will ever see.

After the game Carlisle had this to say, “I’m disappointed and I’m very concerned. Concerned about what’s happening at the end of games with the officials. I can only be honest.”

He went on to say,  “I’ve never been one to make it about the officials. So I don’t want to wallow in this too much. But it’s a fact that two nights in a row, miscalls have really hurt us, and I’m disappointed by it.”

For those fairly restrained comments Carlisle was fined by the NBA in its draconian style of retribution for any criticism of its’ refs.

Carlisle later toed the line and said, “I spoke to the NBA office and agreed that I should be fined for my comments following the Golden State game,” Carlisle said in a text message. “In this league we all have challenging jobs, and the job of the officials is one of the toughest. Those postgame remarks about the officiating were not appropriate, and I accept the fine.”

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. The ref that blew the call should be fined and forced to apologize. There have been rumors of refs overtly influencing outcomes before and these types of blatant miscalls and miscarriages of justice through heavy handed league fines don’t deter criticism. They only heighten it.
