Caron Butler Punks Jonas Valanciunas

Caron Butler pulls an old schoolyard move to punk Jonas Valanciunas.

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: I’m not sure it’s classy, but is sure is funny.

Clippers Nation is hungry this year. They’re third in the Western Conference and have had more success this season than just about any season in franchise history. Yet, with the Clippers down 98-71 against the Raptors it looked like they’d lost a game that they probably should have one.

Caron Butler was so focused on the win he decided to resort to a little playground trickery. With 15 seconds left in the game and the Clippers down by 27 points he goes to high-five Jonas Valanciunas like the game’s over. When Valanciunas goes to shake Butler’s hand back, Butler grabs the ball from Valanciunas and takes it down court to score.

Apparently, Butler didn’t think the 27-point deficit was too much for the Clippers to overcome in 15 seconds. You’ve got to love that type of optimism.
