NBA viral vid of the day: LEBRON JAMES’ RIDICULOUS PRE-GAME DUNK

Once again, Lebron James made dunking a basketball on a 10-foot rim look way too easy.

Hoopsvibe’s quick call:  If Lebron wanted to, he could win the dunk contest every year.

Since the day he stepped foot in the league, Lebron James has made dunking a basketball look absolutely effortless.  Watching him explode up to the rim is a true combination of grace mixed with the highest level of athleticism.

And the best part about it:  We get to witness this every time he steps on the court.

Lebron was at it again Sunday night in Miami when the Heat hosted James’ former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The game was a good one, and Lebron and the Heat went on to win 109-105 to capture a league-best 11th straight win.  James finished with a game high 28 points and eight assists.

But it was Lebron’s dunk in the pre-game warmups Sunday that has had the internet buzzing on Monday.

The video went viral Monday and has many in the basketball world continuing to wonder: Why won’t Lebron just enter another dunk contest already?

But if your’e one of those people, don’t get your hopes up.  Because here’s the deal: Lebron isn’t entering a dunk contest any time soon.

According to NBA expert and ESPN.com writer Brian Windhorst, on Lebron competing in the dunk competition, “There was a zero percent chance in 2004 when he was a rookie and there will be a zero percent chance next year, too.  James has never done it for a very good reason: he has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose.”

Even though we’d all love to see LBJ enter the dunk contest, Windhorst maintains a strong point.  It’s a good decision on Lebron’s part to not enter because why risk it?  It’s honestly not worth the potential for injury.  James has been playing the best basketball of his career as of late and there’s no reason to jeopardize that going forward.

So for now, we’re all just going to have to be ok with watching him dunk in games and in warmups.

But let’s be honest; Lebron gives us highlights (plural) every night.  And as a hoops fan, it’s a damn good deal.

What do you think, Hoopsvibers?  Should Lebron enter a future dunk contest?
