Kobe Bryant Injured. Out Indefinitely. Knicks’ Chandler Also Injured And Out.
Kobe Bryant injured in loss. Out indefinitely. Knicks’ Chandler also injured and out.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Stars are dropping like flies here. What does this mean for LA and NY?
Kobe injured more than his pride missing the game winning shot and losing to Atlanta last night. He also sprained his ankle on Dahntay Jones’ foot and will be out “indefinitely” according to the Lakers. The final score ended up being Atlanta 96 and Lakers 92 with Bryant dropping 31 points. It is hard to say if Bryant was simply whining after the game or legitimately upset by the play, but Kobe apparently believes the defensive play by Jones at the end of the game was dirty.
No foul was called and it looks pretty clean to us, but Kobe believes he Jones intentionally put his foot under Kobe. Bryant had this to say after the game, “As defensive players, you can contest shots, but you can’t walk underneath players. That’s dangerous for the shooter.”
Jones didn’t appreciate Bryant’s accusations and fired back with his own twitter defense stating, “Tape doesn’t lie. Ankle was turned on the floor after the leg kick out that knocked him off balance. I would never try to hurt the man. He later added: “Leg kick that makes contact with a defensive player is an offense foul. Period. The nba changed that rule 2 yrs ago. Stop it!”
The New York Knicks’ Tyson Chandler went down at the end of the first half having banging knees with Corey Brewer. Chandler was helped off the court by teammates and did not return to the game. He is said to have suffered a knee contusion and is probable for the Knicks’ Thursday game against Portland.
