Cavs Look To Trade #1 Pick For Kevin Love.
The Cavs are rumored to be hungry to trade their #1 draft pick for Kevin Love.
HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: If they can get their hands on a proven commodity like Love, they should take it.
When Cleveland won the #1 pick in the 2013 draft, they won the ability to get Nerlens Noel. The problem is Noel is coming to the draft with knee problems. He’s expected to be a star in the NBA, but knee problems can really shorten a career.
The rumor is talks are ongoing for a scenario between the Timberwolves and the Cavs that involves Kevin Love for the #1 draft pick. Although this is a great move for Cleveland, it is a little difficult to believe Minnesota would go for it unless they were getting more than simply the #1 pick.
Love is a proven commodity in the NBA. He’s a reliable double-double man that can create his own shot, handle the ball on the post, shoot the 3-ball, and lead a team. I don’t see a potentially injury prone Noel being enough.
The driving force in these talks is rumors that Love is not happy in Minnesota and has indicated to the Twolves that he will be leaving the team when his contract is up in 2015. If this were the case, it would make sense for Minnesota to try and recoup as much of his value now as possible.
If this goes down it could end up being a logical move for both organizations, but it all hinges on how strongly Love really wants out of Minnesota.
