Deron Williams Hosts Annual Dodgeball Tournament “Dodge Barrage 2013”
Celebrity golf events are played out.
HoopsVibe Very Quick Call: Seeing Williams hobble around with a protective boot on his ankle had to be disconcerting for Nets fans.
But the good thing is that the event, aptly titled "Dodge Ball Barrage 2013" was a charity event geared towards raising money to support autism research. The money raised will also be used to produce programming that helps children, and their families, understand how to deal with the disease. Click here for some pics of the event.
Nearly 600 guests filled Basketball City in New York last week. Included in that 600 were some notable players and celebrities.
Celebrity supporters included Jason Kidd, Paul Pierce, Katherine Webb, Jay Pharoah, Vashtie, Michael K. Williams, Nana Meriwether, Alan Anderson and Stalley were on hand to witness the Lost Angels beat the Gotham Undertakers.
The winners were able to take home the Ace of Spades trophies, Brooklyn Nets jackets by Starter, and Rockwell watches. Proceeds from the event will benefit Williams’ Point of Hope Foundation, Autism Speaks and New York Collaborates for Autism (NYCA).
The tournament was a big hit,but questions still linger about Williams troublesome ankle. He is scheduled to get an MRI this week, which is why he reportedly didn't participate in any of the games and was in a walking boot as a precaution. But last week it was confirmed he suffered a sprained ankle and a bone bruise.
“My ankle's good. It's good. As long as I'm ready for the start of the regular season, that's all that matters, but I'll be ready for the start of camp,” Williams said at his Dodgeball charity event in Manhattan.
