Portland Trail Blazers Team Report – November 14

(Sports Network) – Zach Randolph had 28 points and 14 rebounds as the
Portland Trail Blazers overcame an early 24-point deficit to post a 112-110
overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at the Rose Garden.

Randolph also added five assists and a timely block late in overtime to help
the Blazers complete a perfect day for head coach Maurice Cheeks. Portland
management rewarded Cheeks for his solid coaching efforts with a two-year
contract extension earlier Thursday.

Bonzi Wells contributed 27 points and nine rebounds in the win for Portland,
which recorded its third straight victory. Rasheed Wallace added 26 points,
while Damon Stoudamire had 17.

The Trail Blazers grabbed their first lead of the contest when Jeff McInnis
opened the extra session with a basket, giving his team a 107-105 lead.

Peja Stojakovic then tied the game with a jumper before Portland immediately
went back ahead on a Stoudamire reverse lay-up. Wallace’s dunk with just under
three minutes to play in the overtime period then gave the Trail Blazers a
111-107 advantage.

Mike Bibby’s three-pointer cut the margin to one, but neither team was able to
score on their next several possessions. Still trailing by one, Bibby had his
potential game-wining shot rejected by Randolph with just six seconds left.
Wallace then hit 1-of-2 from the line and Bibby’s last-second attempt to tie
the contest was off line, securing the improbable victory for Portland.

The Blazers are off until Saturday when they travel to New Orleans to take on
Baron Davis and the Hornets.
