(Sports Network) – Larry Hughes turned in a solid performance with 26
points, nine rebounds, three assists and five steals, as the Washington
Wizards rolled to a 106-97 victory over Atlanta on Monday at Philips Arena.

Gilbert Arenas added 23 points, while Etan Thomas and Jarvis Hayes scored 14
apiece for the Wizards, who snapped a four-game slide. Thomas added a team-
high 11 rebounds in the win, including five on the offensive boards.

Hughes capped the flurry with three-point play at 3:01, handing Washington a
95-82 advantage. The lead hovered around double digits until Shareef Abdur-
Rahim’s three-pointer capped an 8-1 spurt and pulled the Hawks within 100-95
with around 30 seconds remaining.

However, the Wizards were 6-for-8 from the line down the stretch to ice the
victory, their second in five road games this season.

The Wizards are off until Wednesday when they host LeBron James and the
Cleveland Cavaliers.
