Orlando Magic Team Report – November 18

=== Orlando Magic Team Report – November 18 ===

(Sports Network) – The Orlando Magic lost their 10th straight game on
Monday and fired their head coach.

The Magic were defeated, 90-88, by the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.

Tracy McGrady scored a game-high 29 points for the Magic, who have not won
since their season-opener against New York.

Juwan Howard scored 21 points in the loss for Orlando.

Carlos Arroyo hit a pair of free throws with 29.4 seconds remaining to give
Utah a 90-88 lead and the Jazz held on for the win.

McGrady missed a jumper with 18 seconds left, but Arroyo missed two free
throws to give the Magic another chance. Derrick Dial’s jumper missed the
mark, but Utah turned the ball over with one second remaining to give the
Magic yet another opportunity. McGrady’s desperation shot missed everything
and the Jazz escaped with the win.

After the loss to Utah, the Magic fired head coach Doc Rivers and named Johnny
Davis as his replacement.

Rivers had been the Orlando coach since June 7, 1999 and produced a 171-168
record. In his tenure, the Magic have made the playoffs in each of the last
three seasons. The 13-year veteran as a player, Rivers was honored as NBA
Coach of the Year in 1999-2000.

Davis was named assistant coach of the Magic on July 11, 1999 and is in his
fifth year with the team. Davis has spent the last 25 years in the league on
the court and in the front office.

The Magic are off until Thursday when they visit Stephon Marbury and the
Phoenix Suns.
