‘Melo meets KG and T’Wolves

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) – The Denver Nuggets attempt to win their
third straight game tonight when they land in Minnesota for a meeting with
Kevin Garnett and the Timberwolves at the Target Center.

Denver’s Andre Miller and Earl Boykins each posted 27 points to overcome a
spectacular performance by Tracy McGrady in a 106-101 win over the Orlando
Magic on Friday night.

Prized rookie Carmelo Anthony contributed 17 points and a game-high 14
rebounds, but shot just 6-of-23 from the field against Minnesota. Marcus Camby
had only six points, but hauled down 11 boards and blocked six shots, while
Nene added 14 points and six rebounds.

Denver snapped a 12-game losing streak against Orlando, and a six-game home
losing streak to the Magic. The Nuggets outscored Orlando 48-38 in the paint
and 25-21 on the fast break.

The Nuggets are 2-3 on the road this season.

The Timberwolves have lost two of their last three after falling 85-77 to the
Utah Jazz in front of their home crowd on Friday night.

Garnett posted 23 points and 14 rebounds against the Jazz, while Fred Hoiberg
scored 14 points in the losing effort.

So far this season, Garnett has done it all for Minnesota. He leads the team
in scoring (22.0 ppg) and rebounding (12.7 rpg) and is also averaging a
respectable 4.1 assists.

In 2002-03, the Timberwolves won all four contests between the two clubs.

Overall, Minnesota has won five in a row over Denver and eight of the last
10. The Timberwolves have been victorious in 16 of 22 and 20 of the last 27
meetings.

Denver leads the all-time series, 34-28.
