Sixers win without Iverson
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) – Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson missed
Wednesday’s victory over Toronto with a right knee contusion. Philadelphia
also played without starters Derrick Coleman (strained left knee) and Glenn
Robinson (injured left ankle).
Iverson hurt the knee in the first quarter of Friday’s game against San
Antonio. In the two games after the victory over the Spurs, Iverson made
just 12-of-48 shots in losses to Cleveland and Houston.
Iverson, the NBA MVP of the 2000-01 season, finished third in the NBA in
scoring last season (27.6 ppg) after leading the league in scoring three of
the previous four years.
Last week, Iverson was named Player of the Week, leading the Sixers to a 2-1
record by averaging 31.7 points, 7.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.67 steals.
For the week, he led the NBA in minutes per game, was second in scoring and
steals per game and fifth in assists per contest.
