(Sports Network) – Latrell Sprewell poured in a game-high 31 points to lead
Minnesota over Cleveland, 97-83, at Gund Arena on Friday.

Kevin Garnett tallied 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have
won three of their last four games. Sam Cassell contributed 14 points and six
assists as Minnesota has won seven of the last nine meetings between the two

The Timberwolves led 26-21 after the opening quarter and they led the rest of
the way. Cleveland’s last lead was at 5-4 early on after a Darius Miles three-
pointer and a Zydrunas Ilgauskas bucket.

In a tight second quarter, Minnesota outscored Cleveland, 29-25, en route to
taking a 55-46 edge into the intermission.

With 5:26 to play in the third, Sprewell drained a three to complete an 18-6
Minnesota run and the Timberwolves pushed their advantage to 88-71.

The Cavs trailed by 14 after 36 minutes, but they started the final frame with
six unanswered points, capped off by a Chris Mihm dunk.

But the Timberwolves responded with their own 6-0 burst and they controlled
the rest of the game.

The Timberwolves host the Clippers tonight.
