(Sports Network) – Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Los
Angeles Lakers to a 121-89 drubbing of the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday at the
Karl Malone had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Gary Payton finished with 17
points and 10 assists. Slava Medvedenko had 14 points and a career-high 11
rebounds, as Los Angeles won its third straight game overall and moved to 7-0
at home on the season.
LA set season-highs for shooting percentage (59 percent) and free-throw
percentage (90 percent).
The Lakers played without superstar center Shaquille O’Neal, who missed the
game with a strained calf suffered in a 101-94 win over Chicago on Friday.
O’Neal is day-to-day.
The Lakers moved to 17-0 all-time against the Grizzlies franchise in LA, and
avenged a 105-95 loss to Memphis at the Pyramid on November 11.
Dating back to last season, the Lakers have won 22 straight at home. The
franchise’s Los Angeles record is 24, set between the 1987-88 and 1988-89
seasons. The all-time franchise mark was set between 1949-50 and 1950-51, when
the team was stationed in Minneapolis.
The Lakers are off until Wednesday when the host the Washington Wizards.
