(Sports Network) – The Washington Wizards fell to the Detroit Pistons,
80-69, Saturday at the MCI Center.

Brendan Haywood netted a career-high 23 points and grabbed a season-high 11
boards for the Wizards, who have dropped four of their last five games.

Larry Hughes had 15 points in a losing effort.

Detroit led by two after three quarters, but Richard Hamilton’s basket midway
through the final period gave the Pistons a 70-65 lead. The Wizards got within
three at 70-67, but could not get any closer.

The Pistons scored 10 of the final 12 points to put the game out of reach.

The Wizards made just 10-of-18 (56 percent) from the charity stripe.

The Wizards start a four-game road trip on Tuesday at Dallas.
