(Sports Network) – The Minnesota Timberwolves were defeated by the Dallas
Mavericks, 92-88, on Saturday at American Airlines Center.

Kevin Garnett recorded his league-leading 14th double-double of the season
with 28 points and 20 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have dropped three of
their last four.

Minnesota also had three others in double figures with Sam Cassell scoring 18
and dishing out seven assists, while Latrell Sprewell had 14 points and
Michael Olowokandi added 10.

Steve Nash made two free throws with 31 seconds to go to extend the Mavs’ lead
to 88-83.

Garnett then hit two from the line to cut the lead to three. On the ensuing
possession, Antoine Walker hit a big jumper with 5.4 seconds left to make it
90-85 in favor of Dallas.

Garnett hit a three with two seconds left cutting the Mavs’ lead to two, but
Nash was fouled immediately on the inbound and hit both of his free throws to
seal the win.

Minnesota is off until Wednesday when it visits the Phoenix Suns.
