(Sports Network) – The Houston Rockets lost a 95-88 decision to the
Seattle SuperSonics on Saturday at KeyArena.
Steve Francis netted 28 points for the Rockets, who dropped their third
straight contest. This was the final contest of a five-game road trip for the
Rockets, who went 1-4 on the swing.
Houston led 71-70 after three quarters, but only made four field goals in the
final frame to walk off the court on the losing side.
The SuperSonics tallied the first five points of the fourth and they led the
rest of the way. Luke Ridnour nailed a three-pointer and Jerome James scored
on a dunk to account for the burst and put Seattle ahead, 75-71, with 10:54 to
Seattle increased its lead to 10, but the Rockets made a late run to get back
into the game, only to fail to get over the hump. A 9-2 Houston burst pulled
the Rockets to within 91-87 after a Maurice Taylor bucket with 1:50 to play.
After a defensive stop by the Rockets on the ensuing possession, Taylor had a
chance to trim the deficit to two after being fouled, but he missed a pair
from the stripe and the Rockets never got any closer.
The Rockets are off until Wednesday when they host the Utah Jazz.
