(Sports Network) – Vince Carter hit four key free throws down the stretch and
finished with 22 points, as the Toronto Raptors posted a 92-87 win over the
Atlanta Hawks at Air Canada Centre.
Jalen Rose also had 22 points and Donyell Marshall finished with 21, as two of
the three players recently acquired from Chicago helped the Raptors win their
third straight game since the trade. Rose also added 10 assists and eight
Trailing 85-84 with under a minute left to play, Carter was sandwiched by a
pair of Atlanta defenders to send him to the line. He converted both of his
free throws before heading down court and grabbing a big defensive rebound on
a miss by Jason Terry. Carter was fouled and again went to the line and
converted both, giving the Raptors an 88-85 lead with 24.3 seconds to play.
Atlanta’ Boris Diaw missed a three-pointer and Rose grabbed the board and was
immediately hacked, hitting both to ice the victory.
After being forced to sit for a significant period of time due to foul
trouble, Carter poured in 12 of his 22 points in the final period, as Toronto
improved to 7-2 as the host this season.
The Raptors return to the court on Sunday when they wrap up a three-game
homestand against the Seattle SuperSonics.
