Butler expected to return for Heat
Miami, FL (Sports Network) – The Miami Heat should have forward Caron
Butler back in the lineup this evening when they welcome the Phoenix Suns to
Butler underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee October 4 and returned
to the team on November 8. However, he was virtually a non-factor, while still
experiencing problems with the knee, and shut himself down again after a
101-91 loss to the Golden State Warriors on November 21.
The 23-year-old Butler, who will likely come off the bench tonight, is
averaging just 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in eight games this season.
Butler’s return could not come at a better time, as Miami has dropped three
straight and is just 3-7 over its last 10 games. At 84.4 points-per-game, the
Heat are the second-lowest scoring team in the league and are shooting a
league-worst 40.1 percent from the field.
Last season, Butler played in 78 games and averaged 15.4 points and 5.1
boards and was third in the voting for Rookie of the Year.
