Celtics find success on the road

(Sports Network) – The Boston Celtics finished 2-0 on a brief two-game road
trip.

The Celtics crushed the Utah Jazz, 102-80, on Monday at the Delta Center. The
victory followed Sunday’s 116-111 victory over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi
Center.

“We put a really good basketball game together last night and tonight against
teams that are very very difficult to beat at home,” Boston head coach Jim
O’Brien said after Monday’s game. “I thought we did an outstanding job tonight
at both ends of the court. Two games of good offensive basketball, last night
wasn’t very good defensively…we played some good basketball.”

Mike James scored 18 points and dished out nine assists in the win over Utah,
while, Eric Williams netted a game-high 19 points for Boston, which shot an
impressive 51 percent from the field.

“We played good together,” said Paul Pierce “We played with a lot of energy.
We realized we had our backs against the wall, we were smart. It always feels
good to win. Against two teams that have been playing at home, we’ve been hot.
As far as ball playing, we didn’t stick our heads our there, we just came and
responded.”

Boston’s star Pierce, who scored 33 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and
dished out 10 assists in the Celtics’ win over Denver, finished with 14 points
and four rebounds in 30 minutes of action on Monday.

“It’s only two games, we’ve been playing consistent,” said Pierce. “We’ve
started putting together stretches of games, four or five, six in a row, games
where we’re playing like that then we can really see what type of team we are.
We put together two great games, which is great. Especially what happened the
past two games. But if we can do it four or five, six games in a row, you know
win or lose, then I’ll be happy. It’s games where we’re too inconsistent, if
we can play like that for long consistent of games then we’ll be hot.”

The Celtics have not had much success as the visitor against the Jazz, as they
won for just the second time in their last 15 games in Utah.

“It’s a great win, we have won one in this building,” said Boston forward
Williams. “I mean since I’ve been in the league. It felt good to get win.
We’ve been struggling at home. It felt good to go out on the West Coast and
get two wins on their home court. They got a brand new team out there, but
those guys played hard today, that’s one the great things about Coach Jerry
Sloan. He’s a great coach, he gets those guys to play great everyday.”

The Celtics seem to have found their flow on offense, as they have scored more
than 100 points in each of the last three games.

Boston, which is 5-6 on the road this season, returns to the FleetCenter for
two straight. The Celtics host Seattle on Wednesday and Toronto on Friday,
before heading to Cleveland to meet rookie sensation LeBron James and the
Cavaliers on Saturday.
