(Sports Network) – Peja Stojakovic scored 36 points and Brad Miller added 17,
as the Sacramento Kings rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat Phoenix,
107-102, on Sunday at ARCO Arena.
Stojakovic was 11-of-22 from the field, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc,
as the Kings won their fourth straight, and their 12th in 13 games.
The Suns held a 60-52 lead at halftime and extended that cushion to a game-
high 15 points when Jahadi White converted 1-of-2 free throws to make it 92-77
with less than 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
But the Kings responded with a 10-0 run that bled into the fourth, pulling
within 92-87 on Doug Christie’s free throws around the 9:30 mark. Phoenix
extended its lead to 96-90 less than two minutes later, but Sacramento ended
the game with a 17-6 spurt.
Bobby Jackson’s three-point play pulled the Kings within 96-93 with seven
minutes remaining, and Anthony Peeler’s three tied it at 96 with 6:35 left.
The game was still tied at 98-98 minutes later when Stojakovic scored four
straight to give Sacramento the lead for good at 102-98. A pair of Stephon
Marbury free throws got Phoenix within two points, but Peeler followed with a
huge tip-in, and Miller drained two from the line with 18 seconds remaining to
make it 106-100.
Phoenix’ Shawn Marion then missed a pair of desperation threes in the waning
moments, as the Kings held on for the win.
The Kings are off until Tuesday when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies.
