(Sports Network) – Dwyane Wade’s basket with 28.2 seconds remaining in the
fourth quarter lifted the Miami Heat past the Toronto Raptors, 90-89, on
Monday at Air Canada Centre.
Wade finished with 23 points, while teammate Brian Grant chipped in 19 points
and 13 rebounds. Lamar Odom collected 17 points and 16 boards for Miami, which
has won three in a row. Eddie Jones netted 14 points in the win.
Toronto led by five points twice in the fourth quarter, the last time at 85-80
on Morris Peterson’s jumper with 5:04 left in the period. However, the Raptors
scored only four points the rest of the way, while Miami countered with 10.
Wade’s short jumper in the lane with just under a half-minute remaining put
the Heat in front, 90-89.
On the Raptors’ next possession, Alvin Williams missed a shot from the corner,
but the ball went out of bounds off a Miami player and Toronto got it back.
Vince Carter then received the ball, but misfired on a turnaround jumper in
the closing seconds.
The Heat are off until Tuesday when they host the Atlanta Hawks.
