Clippers waive Rice
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – The Los Angeles Clippers Friday waived
veteran forward Glen Rice. The club replaced Rice on the roster by activating
center/forward Melvin Ely from the injured list.
Rice, a 14-year NBA veteran, averaged 3.7 points and 14.6 minutes in 18 games
for the Clippers this season. He played six seasons to start his career in
Miami, where he remains the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 9,248
The 14-year veteran has also played for the Hornets, Lakers, Knicks and
Rockets, averaging 18.3 points in 1,000 games.
Ely, who has missed the last 12 games while on the injured list with
influenza, has tallied 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18 games this season.
