(Sports Network) – The Los Angeles Clippers dropped their third straight
game on Monday with a 125-100 setback to the Sacramento Kings.
Elton Brand had 24 points to lead the Clippers, losers of four of their last
five contests. Quentin Richardson finished with 18 points while Eddie House
came off the bench to score 15 in the loss.
Brand, who was coming off a 35-point, 20-rebound effort against the Lakers on
Saturday, was 9-of-14 from the field. He is third in the NBA in field goal
percentage at 54 percent, trailing only Lakers’ center Shaquille O’Neal (55.3)
and Denver Nuggets’ forward Nene (54.9).
The Clippers have now lost 17 of their last 22 meetings with Sacramento and
are 0-3 against the Kings this season.
On the bright side for LA it had Quentin Richardson back in the lineup for the
first time since January 11. Richardson, who had missed four of the last five
games with a sprained right hand, finished with 18 points in 35 minutes.
Also, Sacramento native, Matt Barnes, made his NBA debut for the Clippers and
got four points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes. He signed a 10-day contract
Sunday after swingman Bobby Simmons was placed on the injured list with a
sprained left hip that could require season-ending surgery.
The Clippers return to action on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors.
