(Sports Network) – Yao Ming scored a season-high 29 points on 12-of-15
shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Houston Rockets to an 86-71
victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday at the Toyota Center.

Maurice Taylor contributed 21 points for the Rockets, who have won four of
their last five games.

“Yao was obviously the dominant force,” said Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy, who
beat his former team for the second time this season. “When he makes his jump
shot, he’s really hard to guard. They played two types of defenders on him. I
thought he did a good job playing to his strength against each guy.”

Yao, who finished one point shy of his career-high, has scored in double
digits in five straight games. In those five contests, Yao is averaging 21.2
points and 11.4 rebounds.

The Rockets are off until Friday when they visit Jermaine O’Neal and the
Indiana Pacers in the first of a three-game road trip.
