(Sports Network) – Allen Iverson returned to the lineup and tallied 31
points, seven rebounds, eight assists and four steals to lead the Philadelphia
76ers over the New Orleans Hornets, 85-82, on Friday at the Wachovia Center.

“I think you saw the importance of having Allen Iverson back in the lineup and
playing at a high level,” said head coach Randy Ayers. “He just took everybody
with him tonight.”

The All-Star guard had been sidelined the last two games with a sprained right
index finger. Kenny Thomas contributed 13 points 14 boards for the Sixers, who
snapped a four-game slide.

“That’s basketball,” Iverson said. “That’s fun. You go out there and just
grind it out, scratch-and-claw, and just go out there and just play.”

Iverson registered his third straight game with 30-plus points.

On Thursday, Iverson was officially named a starting guard for the Eastern
Conference for February 15th’s All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

The 76ers are off until Sunday when they visit Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota
Timberwolves.
