(Sports Network) – Baron Davis had 29 points, eight rebounds, seven assists
and a career-high six steals to lead the Hornets to a 106-98 win over New York
at New Orleans Arena.

Jamal Mashburn scored 19 points and Jamaal Magloire added 13 with 11 rebounds
for the Hornets, who won for only the second time in their last seven games.

After the Knicks closed the gap to six with just over two and a half minutes
remaining, the Hornets sealed the win with three consecutive baskets.

Davis, now in his fifth season, surpassed 5,000 career points on his dunk over
Dikembe Mutombo with 9:36 to go in the second quarter.

New Orleans, which improved to 10-2 in games played on Wednesdays this season,
won for just the fifth time in its last 12 games at home and moved to 16-11 in
the Big Easy this season.

The Hornets return to the court on Tuesday in Indiana.
