Magic’s Garrity to have more surgery; miss season
Orlando, FL (Sports Network) – The Orlando Magic announced Friday that Pat
Garrity will miss the rest of the season because the forward needs more
surgery to repair his right knee.
Garrity, who only played two games this season, will have a fourth surgery on
the joint sometime next week. It was noticed that blood was not flowing
properly, so doctors will drill small holes in the patellar tendon and kneecap
to improve the flow.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery last August, but doctors had to go back-in
in September to clean out an infection that hindered the healing process.
Garrity also had a surgery to repair cartilage in his knee on December 1.
The fifth-year veteran from Notre Dame had just two points in 22 minutes of
action this season before being placed on the injured list November 17. He has
averaged 9.1 points in 360 career games.
