Miami, FL (Sports Network) – Two teams with winning streak square off
tonight, as the Portland Trail Blazers start a four-game road trip in Miami
against the Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.
This is the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. On
November 19, 2003, Portland knocked off the Heat, 94-93, at the Rose Garden.
Portland is currently sporting a three-game winning streak. On Saturday, Zach
Randolph poured in 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Trail Blazers
to a 105-84 thrashing of the Boston Celtics in front of their home crowd.
Damon Stoudamire scored 16 points and handed out seven assists for the Trail
Blazers, who began the Boston game by reeling off 22 straight points. Qyntel
Woods added had a career-high 16 points and Darius Miles contributed 13 for
Portland, which shot a blistering 52 percent (38-of-73) again the Celtics.
Portland is 3-15 when it allows at least 100 points this season.
The Blazers, who have won three of their last four as the visitor, are 9-18 on
the road this season.
The Heat search for a season-high fifth straight victory tonight.
On Saturday, Dwyane Wade scored 28 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead
the Heat to a 97-81 victory over the Denver Nuggets in front of their home
crowd. Lamar Odom added 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Heat, who have won
the first three installments of their four-game homestand. Udonis Haslem came
off the bench and contributed 12 points and 10 boards in the victory, Miami’s
25th win of the season, tying last year’s total.
The Heat are 17-10 at home this season.
Portland has won three straight and five of the last six meetings with the
Heat. The Blazers have won two straight and three of their last four at Miami.
