Kings waive Funderburke

Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) – The Kings requested waivers on forward
Lawrence Funderburke on Monday, which will likely end the seven-year run for
the longest-tenured Kings player.

Funderburke has not played this season after having surgery on his left
Achilles’ tendon during the offseason.

The 6-foot-9 power forward, who missed 16 games last season due to foot
problems, had a partial tear in the tendon that was discovered during the
surgery.

A second-round pick out of Ohio State in 1994, Funderburke played three
seasons overseas before joining the Kings for the 1997-98 campaign. In 316
career regular season games, he has averaged 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per
contest.
