(Sports Network) – Pau Gasol scored the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds
remaining and finished with 25 points and seven rebounds to lead Memphis over
Denver, 109-106, at The Pyramid.

James Posey netted 20 points and added eight boards for the Grizzlies, who won
their fifth straight game. Memphis, which has won six straight as the host, is
an impressive 22-7 at home this season.

Gasol received a pass down in the paint and went right up with it to give the
Grizzlies a 107-106 edge and they held on for the victory. On the ensuing
possession, Andre Miller and Carmelo Anthony each got shots off, but both
failed as Posey hauled down a rebound.

Denver was forced to foul Posey, who made both from the stripe with 3.9
seconds left to extend the Memphis advantage to 109-106. The Nuggets had one
more chance but failed to get an open look as Voshon Lenard tossed up a
desperation triple that fell short.

Memphis outshot Denver from the field, 50 percent to 43 percent.

Gasol has scored in double digits in 55 of 56 games this season. In his last
two contests he is averaging 24 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Posey has scored in double digits in four straight contests. He is averaging
21 points and 6.5 rebounds in that span.

The Grizzlies are off until Wednesday when they host the Golden State
Warriors. Memphis is 2-0 against the Warriors this season, as it has picked up
a victory at home and in Oakland.
