(Sports Network) – Speedy Claxton poured in a career-high 28 points and
dished out seven assists, as the Golden State Warriors beat the
Memphis Grizzlies, 99-92, on Wednesday at The Pyramid.

Jason Richardson added 24 points and Brian Cardinal contributed 13 for the
Warriors, who won for just second time in their last five games. It also
marked just the seventh road win for Golden State this season (7-21). Erick
Dampier had a solid night with 14 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Wednesday’s game was tight throughout the third quarter as neither team lead
by more than five points. After 36 minutes of play Golden State held a slim
71-69 lead.

The Warriors looked to get some breathing room midway through the fourth.
Cliff Robinson’s layup stretched the Golden State advantage to seven points,
85-78 with 5:40 left in the contest.

Claxton’s three-point play increased Golden State’s margin to 92-84 with 2:17
remaining. Memphis would get no closer than five points the rest of the way,
as the Warriors knocked down free throws down the stretch.

Golden State was sizzling from the charity stripe as the Warriors drained 35-
of-40 for the game. Claxton was exceptional from the line, finishing 16-of-18.

Richardson has scored 20 or more points in seven of his last 10 games. He is
averaging 21.1 points and seven rebounds in that span.

The Warriors are off until Friday when they visit Kevin Garnett and the
Minnesota Timberwolves. Golden State is 2-0 against the Timberwolves this
season. The Warriors have defeated Minnesota once at home and once at the
Target Center.
