San Antonio Spurs Team Report – February 27

=== San Antonio Spurs Team Report – February 27 ===

(Sports Network) – The San Antonio Spurs will likely be without All-Star
center Tim Duncan on Saturday when they start a brief two-game homestand
against the upstart Denver Nuggets at the SBC Center.

On Thursday, the Spurs were crushed by the Dallas Mavericks, 115-91, at
AmericanAirlines Center. And to make matters worse, San Antonio played half of
the game without Duncan, who left in the third quarter with a leg injury.

Before the injury, the two-time MVP registered 22 points and 17 rebounds in 25
minutes for San Antonio, which had its two-game win streak stopped. After the
game head coach Gregg Popovich said that Duncan will likely miss some team.

Duncan appeared to take a blow to his left knee or quadriceps, the thigh muscle
that works to extend the knee, during a collision with Dallas center Scott
Williams in the second quarter. After receiving treatment at halftime, he
planted his left leg in the middle of the third quarter and came up limping.
He went to the bench with 7:15 remaining in the quarter and remained there for
the rest of the game.

He will be re-examined today and may undergo an MRI.

San Antonio, which will close its stand on Monday against Memphis, has won 12
of its last 16 games at home and is 19-7 in its arena this season.

The Spurs have split their two meetings with the Nuggets this season and has
won four of five and 10 of the last 12 meetings. San Antionio has also won
five in a row and 12 of its last 13 at home in this series.
