(Sports Network) – Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups each scored 20
points, as Detroit blew out Atlanta, 105-83, on Friday at The Palace of Auburn
Corliss Williamson added 17 while Mike James had 13 points for the Pistons,
who have won three straight games. Ben Wallace netted 11 points and grabbed a
game-high 15 boards in the win.
Rasheed Wallace, playing for the first time against his former team, scored
only six points on 2-of-10 shooting in the victory. Wallace was on the Hawks
briefly and played in just one game with the team after he was traded from
Portland earlier this season. However, the Hawks then unloaded Wallace to
Detroit in a three-team deal just prior to the trade deadline.
Hamilton has scored 20 or more points in five of his last six games and is
averaging 21 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists in that span.
Detroit has allowed at least 100 points only four times this season.
The Pistons will return to action on Sunday when they start a five-game road
trip against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. Detroit has
dropped four of its last six on the road and is 16-14 away from home this
Detroit split its two-game series with the Clips last year, but could be at a
disadvantage tomorrow, as the home team has won the last five matchups.
Detroit, which has won 10 of the last 14 meetings, has lost three straight on
the Clippers’ floor.
