(Sports Network) – Steve Francis scored 21 points to lead Houston to an
89-85 win over Portland on Friday at the Toyota Center.

Cuttino Mobley contributed 16 points and Yao Ming added 13 for the Rockets,
who have won two straight games.

Houston led 67-64 after three quarters and increased the gap to 81-74 on a
pair of free throws by Maurice Taylor with 6:40 remaining in the game.

The Rockets’ lead grew to nine moments later on Taylor’s basket, but Portland
pulled within 89-85 on Damon Stoudamire’s layup with 33 seconds remaining.
Francis turned the ball over with 13 seconds left, but the Blazers were unable
to get any closer as Anderson missed from in close as time was winding down.

Prior to the game Mobley was fined $5,000 by the league on Friday for his
behavior following a game against San Antonio on February 24. Mobley publicly
criticized the game officials after the Rockets dropped an 86-77 decision to
the Spurs.

The Rockets have won nine of their last 12 home games to move to 21-8 at the
Toyota Center for the season.

Houston will return to action on Sunday when they continue their four-game
homestand against the Seattle SuperSonics. The Rockets have lost twice already
to the Sonics this season, but could have the advantage Sunday, as the home
team in this series has won nine of the last 12 meetings.
