Detroit Pistons Team Report – March 1

=== Detroit Pistons Team Report – March 1 ===

(Sports Network) – The Detroit Pistons target their fifth consecutive win
this evening when they continue their five-game road trip against the Utah
Jazz at the Delta Center.

The Pistons got their trip off in fine fashion on Sunday, as Chauncey Billups
scored a game-high 28 points and handed out seven assists in a 100-88 win over
the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.

Richard Hamilton added 21 points for the Pistons, who have won five of their
last seven. Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace each posted double-doubles with 15
points and 10 rebounds and 13 points and 13 boards respectively.

The Clippers led by two within the first minute of the fourth quarter, but
Detroit responded with a 22-6 run and it never looked back. Hamilton completed
the decisive spurt on two free throws with 2:55 left to play to put the
Pistons ahead, 93-79. It was the first advantage for the Pistons since the
first frame.

Hamilton, who has scored 20 or more points in six of his last seven games,
played with a broken nose and is expected to play in tonight’s
contest, but will undergo surgery on Tuesday and be lost for an unknown amount
of time.

Detroit has won just three of its last seven on the road and is 17-14 away
from home this season.

The Pistons defeated Utah earlier in the year and have won four straight in
the series. The Jazz, though, have won eight of the last 13 matchups,
including 11 of the last 13 in Utah.
