New Jersey Nets Team Report – March 1

=== New Jersey Nets Team Report – March 1 ===

(Sports Network) – Nets head coach Lawrence Frank got a heavy dose of
reality on Sunday night, as his team took it on the chin at the hands of the
Los Angeles Lakers, 100-83, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Richard Jefferson paced the Nets with 19 points and seven rebounds, as New
Jersey lost for the second time in its last three contests after a 14-game
winning streak. Both losses have come to teams from the Western Conference
after the Nets played only one team from the West during the winning streak.

Kenyon Martin scored 11 points despite being hampered by foul trouble the
entire game. Jason Kidd added 10 points in the losing effort before being
pulled after aggravating a knee injury. He played a season-low 28 minutes.

The Nets allowed an opponent to score 100 points for just the fifth time this
season. New Jersey had a nine-game home winning streak halted.

New Jersey only managed to convert 64 percent (14-of-22) from the charity
stripe.

The Nets have essentially locked up the Atlantic Division title and the second
seed in the East, as they are 11 1/2 games ahead of the second place New York
Knicks.

The Nets will hit the road for a four-game swing beginning Tuesday night in
Denver. For the year, New Jersey is 15-13 on foreign hardwood.

New Jersey has won three straight and four of the last five meetings with the
Nuggets. However, New Jersey has lost three of its last five trips to the Mile
High City.
