(Sports Network) – Stephon Marbury scored 36 points with 10 assists, leading
the New York Knicks to an 88-77 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday at
Madison Square Garden.

Marbury was 13-of-24 from the floor, while Philadelphia’s Allen Iverson shot
just 2-of-21 for 11 points in his return from a four-game absence with a
shoulder injury.

Tim Thomas added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Knicks, who snapped a six-
game losing streak and won for just the second time in 10 games. They had lost
four straight on a brutal road trip before this one.

New York, which outrebounded the Sixers by a 52-40 margin, placed center
Dikembe Mutombo on the injured list before the game after he underwent an
abdominal surgical procedure earlier in the day.

Nazr Mohammed, who was named the Knicks’ starting center earlier in the week,
scored 12 points with 15 rebounds.

The win also moved the Knicks into sixth-place in the race for the Eastern
Conference playoffs, a half-game ahead of the Toronto Raptors, who will
welcome New York to the Air Canada Centre on Friday.

New York, which has dropped six in a row on the road, has split its two
matchups with the Raptors this season, but has lost eight of the last 10
matchups, including seven of its last nine north of the border in this series.
