New Orleans Hornets Team Report – March 8

=== New Orleans Hornets Team Report – March 8 ===

(Sports Network) – The New Orleans Hornets dropped their second straight
game on Sunday with an 84-76 loss to the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada

Jamaal Magloire led the Hornets with 23 points and a game-high 21 rebounds.
Darrell Armstrong was the only other Hornet to score in double-digits, ending
with 11 points.

Guard Baron Davis did not start the game due to a coaches decision. He
finished with just six points in 24 minutes of play for New Orleans, which has
dropped four of its last five contests.

Toronto extended its margin to 69-54 heading into the fourth quarter.

A 13-4 run for the Hornets at the beginning of the fourth stanza brought New
Orleans to within six. Steve Smith’s trey capped the flurry, making it a 73-67
contest with under nine minutes left in the game.

That was as close as the Hornets would get the rest of the way. Consecutive
baskets by Donyell Marshall and Vince Carter pushed the Raptors’ edge back to
11 points at 78-67 with around six minutes remaining. New Orleans never
threatened from there.

With the loss, New Orleans slipped to fifth-place in the Eastern Conference
playoff race, a half-game back of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday against the Miami Heat.
