=== New Orleans Hornets Team Report – March 11 ===
(Sports Network) – New Orleans registered a 95-84 victory over the streaking
Miami Heat at the New Orleans Sports Arena Wednesday night.
Baron Davis tallied 33 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the
Hornets, who remained in a tie for fourth place with Milwaukee in the Eastern
Conference playoff race. The Hornets put an end to their two-game skid.
David Wesley added 19 points, Jamaal Magloire tacked on 14 points and 17
rebounds, and P.J. Brown recorded 12 points and 12 boards. Four Hornets
finished in double digits in scoring. The Hornets have won seven of their last
eight home contests.
New Orleans made up for 34.8 percent shooting by outscoring the Heat, 42-13,
at the charity stripe. Forty-two made free throws tied a Hornets franchise
record. The Hornets also outrebounded the Heat, 58-38, in the winning effort.
The Hornets played without Jamal Mashburn, who is experiencing problems with
his right knee and will likely be out for several weeks. It is the same knee
that forced him to miss the first half of the season. The Hornets are 26-19
without Mashburn, 8-11 with him.
New Orleans has captured nine of the last 12 meetings with the Heat.
The Hornets have no time to rest on their laurels, as they return to the court
tonight against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center. New Orleans lost its
only other meeting this season with the Rockets, 83-74.
