Ilgauskas and Carmelo Anthony earn Player of the Week honors

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Zydrunas Ilgauskas of the surging Cleveland
Cavaliers and Carmelo Anthony of Denver were named Eastern and Western
Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday,
March 8 through Sunday, March 14.

Ilgauskas helped the Cavaliers, who are in the midst of a playoff push, to a
3-0 record last week by averaging 21.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per
game.

He started the week with a strong 20-point performance during a win over the
Hawks on March 8 and then collected 30 points, six rebounds and four assists
in a victory over Toronto two days later. Ilgauskas completed his solid
week by contributing 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in a win over
Eastern Conference leader Indiana on March 14, vaulting the Cavaliers into
sixth place in the conference.

Ilgauskas becomes the second Cleveland player to garner the award this season,
as forward Carlos Boozer also picked up the weekly honor back in January.

Anthony led the Nuggets to a 3-1 mark last week, as he averaged 26 points per
contest.

He netted 26 points in a win at Washington on March 9 and then chipped in
24 points in a loss to New Jersey the next night. Anthony then went off for 31
points in a win over Milwaukee on March 12 before capping his stellar week
with a 23-point effort in a crucial win over Utah Sunday. The win over the
Jazz solidified the Nuggets’ position for the eighth and final playoff spot in
the West.
