(Sports Network) – A preview of what could be a first round matchup in the
Eastern Conference playoffs takes place tonight, as the New York Knicks
welcome Atlantic Division rival New Jersey to Madison Square Garden.

the Atlantic. New Jersey trails the Indiana Pacers by nine games for the top
spot in the Eastern Conference, while New York and Miami are tied for seventh
place.

This is the third meeting of the season between the two squads. New Jersey has
won the two previous contests, picking up a win at the Meadowlands and at MSG.
The teams will play again on April 2nd at Continental Airlines Arena.

New Jersey has won five straight and 11 of the last 12 contests with the
Knicks. The Nets have won two straight and five of their last six at New York.

The Nets, who have lost two straight and four of their last six on the road,
are 17-16 as the visitor this season. New Jersey is 12-3 in Friday games.

The Nets come into tonight’s contest off a home loss. On Thursday, New Jersey
fell to the Detroit Pistons, 89-71, at Continental Airlines Arena.

and Kenyon Martin each netted 13 points for the Nets, who have dropped two of
