NBA suspends Artest

New York, NY (Sports Network) – The Indiana Pacers will play the Sacramento
Kings on Friday at Conseco Fieldhouse without All-Star Ron Artest.

Artest, Indiana’s starting small forward, was suspended for one game without
pay by the league for hitting Portland guard Derek Anderson in the head
with a forearm during the Pacers’ 80-71 home victory over the Trail Blazers
on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Artest is eligible to return for Indiana’s game at Memphis on
Saturday. The St. John’s product has averaged 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and
3.8 assists in 60 games this season.

Artest also receives a flagrant foul penalty two for the incident.
